I’ll be in Lisbon on May 11th to update the IEA Wind executive committee about progress towards establishing a new task around quiet wind turbine technology. We plan to pull together an international expert panel to:
The goal will be to improve our understanding of how noise from wind turbines and wind farms can be minimised and to establish generally agreed guidelines and recommendations around sound/noise. This will benefit manufacturers, developers and all members of society.
We hope to have the task up and running over the summer. Please get in touch if you’d like to be involved.
The proposal has been prepared by the Distributed Wind Energy and the Fluids, Acoustics and Vibrations Groups in the Department of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, together with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
